Terms of Service

NonProfit.it is a free online directory of nonprofit organizations active in Italy. It collects and organizes information about associations, foundations, social cooperatives, NGOs and other Third Sector Entities so that citizens, volunteers and donors can discover and understand them more easily.

The service allows visitors to search and consult profiles; filter organizations by cause, region and support option; discover events, initiatives and volunteering opportunities; submit new organizations or corrections; and read guides about volunteering, donations and the 5x1000.

The service is completely free and can be used without an end-user account. It is not a government website, certification body, fundraising platform or payment intermediary.

Anyone may use NonProfit.it in accordance with these Terms of Service. By accessing the website, you accept the conditions described here.

The service is intended for private users seeking organizations, volunteering opportunities or donation information; nonprofit organizations wishing to appear in the directory and reach supporters; and journalists and researchers using it as a reference for the Italian nonprofit sector.

Commercial or advertising use and systematic data scraping are not permitted without prior written agreement. You must not interfere with security, overload the infrastructure, circumvent access controls or use the service to mislead others.

NonProfit.it uses Umami Analytics without cookies and with data-minimizing settings. Browsing may generate aggregate or minimized statistics used to understand and improve the service. Further details appear in the Privacy Policy.

Anyone may submit a nonprofit organization through the dedicated form. Every submission is subject to editorial review before publication.

The process has three stages: you provide information such as the name, website, description and category; NonProfit.it checks, within reasonable limits, that the organization exists and can be linked to public or official sources such as its institutional website or RUNTS; and eligible organizations may then be published. NonProfit.it retains full editorial discretion over publication, updating and removal and is not required to provide a specific explanation.

By submitting information, you declare that you reasonably believe it to be true and accept responsibility for its accuracy. You may upload only material you are entitled to share. A submission does not guarantee publication, and NonProfit.it may verify, edit, reject, merge or remove material to protect data quality and the rights of others.

The submitter’s name and email address are collected only for internal handling, such as asking for clarification, and are never published. Anyone who believes a profile contains unlawful, manifestly inaccurate or harmful information may write to info@nonprofit.it, identifying the organization, the disputed content and the reasons. NonProfit.it will assess the request and may amend, supplement or remove the content.

NonProfit.it works to keep directory information accurate and current. Data comes from verifiable public sources such as official organization websites, RUNTS, regional registers, journalistic sources and user submissions.

Nevertheless, NonProfit.it does not guarantee that every item is complete, accurate or immediately up to date. Organizations and public records can change without the site being notified. Review and transparency labels describe checks performed by NonProfit.it; they are not official certifications, ratings or guarantees.

Before making a donation or joining a volunteering initiative, always confirm sensitive information, payment details and legal status on the organization’s official website, with the organization itself or through the relevant official source.

Original NonProfit.it content — including editorial text, guides, visual layout, directory structure, source code and the compiled database — belongs exclusively to NonProfit.it and is protected by Italian and European copyright law.

• Organization content: logos, trademarks, official descriptions and materials remain the property of the respective organizations and are used on NonProfit.it solely for informational, non-commercial purposes.
• Permitted use: individual profiles or excerpts may be reproduced for personal, educational or journalistic purposes with clear attribution to NonProfit.it and without implying endorsement.
• Prohibited use: systematic reproduction, commercial redistribution and the creation of derivative works are not permitted without prior written consent.

NonProfit.it is an information service. It does not broker, raise or manage donations. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, to the extent permitted by law.

NonProfit.it is not liable for the accuracy, completeness or currency of information provided by organizations or users; the activities, management or conduct of listed organizations; economic, reputational or other harm arising from reliance on directory information; interruption, delay or malfunction of the service; or content and transactions on third-party websites reached through profile links.

Links for donations, volunteering, events, social profiles and organization websites lead to independent services. Any transaction or relationship takes place directly between you and the organization or provider. Check the destination domain, terms, privacy notice and payment details before acting.

Under Article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code, these limitations do not apply in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence by the operator, or wherever liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Users who interact with NonProfit.it — for example through submission or contact forms — agree not to use the service for the following purposes.

• Submitting false, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory or reputation-damaging information.
• Submitting nonexistent, fictitious or fraudulent organizations, or impersonating another person or organization.
• Infringing third-party intellectual-property rights.
• Carrying out unlawful activity or conduct contrary to public order or accepted standards of decency.
• Sending unsolicited communications, spam, phishing attempts or malicious code.
• Attempting to access restricted areas without authorization or compromising the security or proper operation of the service.

NonProfit.it may modify, expand, reduce, suspend or discontinue the service at any time for technical, editorial or organizational reasons.

These Terms may be updated periodically. Amendments are published on this page with the relevant date. Continuing to use the website after publication means that the updated Terms apply from their stated effective date.

These Terms of Service are governed by Italian law.

For users who are not consumers — including entities, professionals and organizations — the Court of Bologna has exclusive jurisdiction over disputes concerning the interpretation, application or performance of these Terms.

For consumers acting outside their trade or profession, Article 33 of Legislative Decree 206/2005 preserves the jurisdiction of the court for the consumer’s place of residence or domicile. The preceding clause cannot be enforced against a consumer.

If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
